2. Dear Tim,
3. Thanks for your letter and for coming to the hospital.
4. I'm sorry I didn't say much - the pain killers made me sleepy.
5. I came home last weekend.
6. My legs still hurt, but I'm walking round the garden as much as I can - so it's getting better.
7. That was my first accident, you know, and I can tell you it was a dreadful shock.
8. Everyone thinks it'll never happen to them, don't they?
9. I suppose I was tired that afternoon.
10. I finished work early and we left here at about half-past five.
11. The children were axcited and we were all looking forward to our camping holiday in France.
12. The ferry from Dover didn't leave until midnight, so we thought we had plenty of time.
13. But the traffic was very heavy and there was a lot of water on the roads.
14. In fact we didn't get to the motorway until nearly 8 o'clock.
15. Perhaps I was driving too fast, I don't know, but everything seemed to be okay.
16. It was a quarter-pas nine as we went into the Dartford tunnel.
17. We were in the outside lane.
18. I asked Anne for 60 p to pay at the other end of the tunnel-she hadn't got any change, so I took my hand off the wheel and felt in my own pocket.
19. I looked down at the money.
20. It was only for a split second, but that was long enough.
21. I just didn't see the red lights of the coach in front of us until it was too late.
22. Of course I slammed my foot down and we sikdded on thewet road.
23. I can remember two crashes - I think the one from behind was first - the Lorry.
24. It pushed us into the coach.
25. Then everything went black.
26. The next thing I saw was a bright light.
27. A fireman was standing over me.
28. He said, "Lie still. We'll soon cut you free."
29. Then a doctor gave me an injection and everything went black again.
